There’s something about Mary…. at OCB’s.
It is obvious on stepping into Mary’s world that she loves what she does. I have known Mary for 6 years and her passion and commitment in serving great food is evident in the consistently creative menus she produces. Her day starts at 6am and irrespective of the long hours, her optimistic attitude means there is always plenty of laughter to be heard between customers and staff. Mary is enthusiastic about her business and her loyal followers attests to her ability to keep things fresh and original.

Tell us a little about your company
Established in 1993 and passionate about our food, OCBs is a sandwich and salad bar and we make everything on the premises. We are tucked away in Clanwilliam Court on Lower Mount Street and all serious foodies in the area know where we are! Our scones are renowned as are our wonderful salads and soups – we are a fun, food-loving team and some of us have been together since the start. We all love food, craic and music
How did you get into this business?
Loved food and felt that nobody was doing it right!
What do you enjoy most about your role/Least about your role?
Enjoy most: Love the satisfaction of pleasing our customers.
Enjoy least: It’s hard work!!
Have there been any funny or not so funny experiences that stand out in your mind?
A customer walked into our shop window and shattered the glass – accidentally! She walked away from the incident unscathed, if not a little stunned but the main shop window was totally shattered.
What’s your favourite restaurant? Favourite food? Favourite drink?
Patrick Guilbaud’s without question! Good food! Wine!
What are you most passionate about in your life?
Food, Wine and Travelling!!!
Who was or is your greatest inspiration?
My father!
What motivates you?
The cut and thrust of business and people.
